I am a Gestalt psychotherapist and qualified social worker offering individual psychotherapy to adults. I provide a warm, relational and trauma-informed approach to therapy, supporting people to better understand themselves, their relationships and the patterns that may be getting in the way of living more fully.

People come to therapy for many different reasons. You may be experiencing anxiety, grief or loss, difficulties in relationships, shame, self-criticism or low self-worth. You may be navigating a significant life transition, struggling with alcohol or substance use, finding yourself caught in recurring patterns, or simply have a sense that something in your life is not working as you would like it to.

My approach is collaborative and relational. Rather than seeing therapy as something being done to you, I see it as a process we engage in together. Therapy can provide an opportunity to slow things down and become curious about what is happening in your life: how you experience and respond to difficult feelings, the ways you have learned to protect yourself, what happens in your relationships, and what you might need or want for yourself.

My primary therapeutic approach is relational Gestalt psychotherapy, drawing on somatic and Internal Family Systems (IFS) theories to inform my work. I am interested in the whole person and in how thoughts, emotions, bodily experience and different aspects of ourselves come together in the present moment. At times this may involve noticing what is happening in the body, exploring conflicting or protective parts of ourselves, or paying attention to what emerges between us in the therapeutic relationship.

I am particularly interested in how ways of coping that may once have been necessary or helpful can become patterns that no longer serve us. Rather than trying to get rid of these parts of ourselves, therapy can help us approach them with greater curiosity and understanding. Developing awareness of how these patterns developed, and how they continue to shape our present experience, can create possibilities for new choices and different ways of relating to ourselves and others.

I bring more than 20 years of experience working alongside people experiencing mental health challenges, disability and complex life circumstances. My earlier work in community and support settings was followed by professional training and practice as a social worker, and subsequently as a Gestalt psychotherapist. This breadth of experience has given me a deep respect for the different ways people adapt to adversity and for the importance of meeting each person with curiosity, compassion and without judgement.

I welcome people from diverse backgrounds, identities and life experiences. Therapy may focus on a particular difficulty or become a longer-term exploration of yourself, your relationships and how you want to live. We can work together at a pace that supports both safety and the possibility of meaningful change.
